4/21/89: Cicero Yard! My fav place growing up!!!! Another staple besides SD9s were the ubiquitous SW1000s (another thing long gone ) Here a pair bring in a transfer run on the Ogden Ave side...note the trucks heading into tje intermodal terminal...now Cicero Yard is all (yawn) intermodal!
Very Nice shot :3
You'd think you were in port and not in Chicago
Chicago is/was a port on the great lakes!
Cleveland in some respects is a Port Town for those awesome Great Lakes Steamer Ships Have you seen those things out of the water? Massive!
I love how the tracks border along the road with no fencing or anything. It creates a very gritty industrial scene I just love, almost like the gravel under the tracks just melt into the road
I know!!! That's the way it used to be...do I miss those daze! OH MAN!!!!...I can't tell you...But at least I have memories and pics in the days before DHS!
you said they built something here. Where did they move all of the train activities to?
I've never seen locomotives like that, just love em
End-cab switchers are pretty rare these days! Glad you love 'em!
I love these Second-Gen end cab switchers.
They were awesome for sure! I miss those guys a lot! But at the time they were as common as Dash 9s!
Wow! That white Kenworth T200 'Anteater' truck would have been brand new!
That's such a cool thing about this shot..trains, trucks, history! Good observation!
nice i love end cabs.nice catch of these now rare units.
They sure weren't rare in '89! Thanks CN!
