Another nice late Cold War photograph in technicolor splendor. More Boxcars and single flatbeds. Little to no Double Decker Container Trucks for the Freeway and Unregulated Global Trade lobbies.

Yep, if only we audited the pentagon long ago. A job working on the railroad or the dock would be allot more secure and we would have a greater number of manufacturing suppliers that gave out products that benefit humanity over the destructive waste of militarism and mindless consumption.

Awesome shot. Via Rail had a pair of these, inherited from CPR; they looked sharp in Blue and Yellow.
Oh yeah, "Nothing beats those E's"; except, perhaps, a D&H PA4 :-)

I hear you! PA's were the bomb! I'm just glad BN/Metra kept these as long as they did. Now some are at the IRM.

Ironically I had just read the Canadian Railway Observations ( [link] ) and discovered this image: [link] :-)
I've never been there, but I hear it's a destination. I remember seeing the Via Rail E8As running back to back with an RS10 stuck in between, them back in the early 80ies, but I was too late to se the D&H PA4s, they stopped coming to Montreal a few years before that.

...and roar they did. :) Nice shot. At the time I thought that green paint with the garish orange and white stripes was awful. It still is but I miss it.

When we lived in the city proper my grandmother used to commute on the Burlington to get to her job working for the Penn Central. When we moved to the suburbs we were closer to the C&NW. We used to pick my grandmother up at the train station every night when she came home from work. They ran those E Units also...on the left track.

We used to have quite similar looking trains which were called "dog face trains" [link] I guess back in the 60s it was the summit of design!

It was the classic Railroad passenger train locomotive carbody design.
