10/16/87: BN E9 9903 outbound from Chicago Union Station on a mild autumn day in 1987. Notice the remains of the Railway Express Agency Freighthouse in the process of being torn down...now the new Post Office is at this location. Photo taken from Polk Street, image from scanned 35mm negative.
I miss these units. I remember seeing them when I was young.
Seeing the mighty E-units on these commuter services instead of the mighty Zephyrs is certainly strange, even stranger without their B-units. Lovely shot!
A great old girl. Oh how I miss them, nice shot
I once worked for REA there - many years ago! Summer after high school, unloading boxcars. Then I got kicked upstairs, worked for REA Leasing Co. (REALCO) Lots of memories in that old building.
