When trains were trains! I'm curious, when are these engines from?
By the way these are some amazing images. I can hardly believe this is from 1987!

The famous BN E9s were rebuilt from BN E units by Morrison Knudson of Boise in 1973, Idaho to modify BN E9As with 645 power assemblies. A 500 KW Detroit Diesel replaced the steam generator for head-end power. I think they coul've kept going but but Metra relaced them with F40PHM-2s around 1990, :(

I always wondered why they just couldn't rebuild the classic carbody with modern innards! Imagine an E9-2!
